- Asian American Youth Society
- Program Coordinator: As a former student at Montera Middle School, I returned after a student I tutor mentioned that the club no longer exists. I strongly believe that well organized clubs help direct and motivate the youth to a positive future, so in turn, I came back in 2007 to help direct AAYS. I devoted my own time - one day a week for the whole school year - to conduct club activities. My duties include:
- Organizing educational field trips to local Universities: UC Berkeley, and San Francisco State University
- Lectures on Asian American history, the Civil Rights Movement, community unity
- Develop a website for students to access and maintain
- Organize events for sales
- Designed our own club tee-shirts
- Bringing other local youth organizations to club meetings to encourage students to be involved in the community once they reach high school.
